Pre-School Nutrition and Education Program – Junnardev
Addressing Malnutrition Through Village-Based Interventions
In response to the alarming malnutrition disparities highlighted in a recent Lancet study, Gramin Adivasi Samaj Vikas Sansthan (GASVS) has developed a comprehensive Pre-School Nutrition and Education program in Pipariya duggalam, Nichetemru, Iklamasani bhandu in Junnardeo block of Chiddhwara District. This initiative focuses on village-based interventions to prevent and correct malnutrition in young children, particularly through the provision of milk.
Program Overview
The Pre-School Nutrition and Education program aims to ensure that 120 children (between 6 months -5 years) in remote rural villages receive adequate daily nourishment and engage in educational activities that enhance their overall health and wellbeing. By integrating nutrition with early childhood education, GASVS seeks to create a holistic approach to child development.
Key Components of the Program
-
- Daily Milk Provision: Recognizing milk as a vital source of essential nutrients, GASVS provides milk to pre-school children in participating villages. This initiative ensures that children receive the necessary nutrients to support their growth and development.
-
- Educational Activities: Alongside nutritional support, GASVS implements engaging learning activities designed to stimulate cognitive and social development. These activities are tailored to the needs of young children, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle from an early age.
-
- Community Involvement: The program actively involves parents and community members to foster a supportive environment for children. Workshops and training sessions are conducted to educate families about the importance of nutrition and early education.
The Pre-School Nutrition and Education program by GASVS is a vital initiative addressing the critical issue of malnutrition in rural communities. By combining nutritional support with early childhood education, GASVS is making a tangible difference in the lives of children, ensuring they have a healthier, brighter future. This program exemplifies our commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment.
