Way back in 1991, a small sapling was rooted in the name of Gramin Adivasi Samaj Vikas Sansthan in the remote areas of Chhindwara district. The purpose was to lend a helping hand to the most neglected and marginalized tribal community of the area. The initiative was started by the people of diverse background. All the people who had come together had no previous experience of working with the people. But they had the common vision and the spirit to work for the people and with the people. GASVS works on four broad areas of development intervention namely, Health – Education – Livelihood – Rehabilitation.
GASVS works on ‘partner support model’ with like minded donor agencies with matching mandates. Our funding partners support our efforts that create tangible and sustainable improvements in the lives of the physically and mentally challenged persons who are at most times excluded from the development process. Our intention is to support projects that are sustainable in the long run and focus on addressing the root causes of the problems faced by persons with disabilities.
